When snow embraces an enchanted forest
Easy snowshoe hike in a snow-covered beech forest, among animal tracks, monumental trees, and the deep stillness of winter.
This easy snowshoe hike allows us to discover the secrets of the forest. In this vast beech woodland, blanketed in white, we will read the tracks left in the snow by animals, revealing stories of their lives. We will walk among ancient trees and wide clearings, immersed in the atmosphere that defines the winter season.
PROGRAM

Meeting at 9:00 am at the Barrea Tourist Office or at 9:30 am in Pescasseroli. Meet the guide and enjoy a short drive with your own vehicles to the trailhead. With snowshoes on, we begin walking along an easy route.
Old beech trees with fantastical shapes and hidden clearings define this fairytale-like landscape. Many animals make their home here, and by following their tracks we may discover a rich biodiversity.
We reach the edge of an ancient beech forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where trees over 500 years old still stand. These remarkable specimens survived centuries of logging thanks to their location on rocky ledges and steep slopes, and they are easily recognizable as they tower above the surrounding forest.
We stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the main peaks of the Park. After a snack break, we continue walking through the forest to complete a loop that will bring us back to the cars.

It is always recommended to dress in layers so you can adjust your clothing during the hike.

The hike does not present any particular difficulties and takes place on mountain trails with gentle ascents and descents.

Here in the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park we are home to rare and protected wildlife species, so there are some trails where dogs are not allowed. We’re really sorry, but for this adventure you’ll need to leave your four-legged friends at home.

For this activity we recommend a minimum age of 10+ years and some previous hiking experience in the mountains.

We are aware that mountain weather conditions can be unpredictable. For this reason, our guiding team always checks the forecast a few hours before the experience begins. If conditions are not suitable, the activity will be postponed. In that case, you may choose a new date, request a gift voucher for another experience of equal value, or receive a full refund. To ensure safety and comfort, we recommend bringing all the necessary equipment and wearing appropriate clothing.
