Meeting at 8:00 am at the Barrea Tourist Office. Meet the guide and transfer by car to the trailhead.
The route to Valle Lunga begins on a comfortable dirt road for about 1 km, then continues through the dense forest of Valle dell’Inferno. After about two hours, we reach the karst basin of Lago Vivo at 1,600 m, where a spectacular view opens onto Monte Petroso. The trail then continues through the beech forest for another forty minutes until reaching Valle Lunga at 1,830 m above sea level, with its vast snow-filled high-altitude open spaces.
Valle Lunga is a wide plateau extending between 1,800 and 2,000 m in elevation, between Monte Tartaro and Monte Altare, in the heart of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. The immensity of its spaces, the frame of majestic peaks, the magnificent beech forests crossed to reach it, and the strong presence of wildlife make Valle Lunga a place of deep emotion.
Packed lunch and return to the cars in the afternoon.
